Thanks to the guys over at www.themacbistro.com for
giving me a kick, to check links and photos on
macupdate and versiontracker. I found that
some of the links were out of date, and they
provided me with an updated screenshot of a
larger mail store optimization.
They seem like a friendly bunch, if you are into Macs, camera’s etc... They have some fun posts and there is always something going on.

I hate PayPal

I’m fed up of being taken for a mug by PayPal.
Their supposed protection stinks, as it has so many
restrictions, that it seems very rarely to pay out.
I paid a company £40 for something, they said there was issues with the postal service, promised to send it out. I waited as I wasn’t desperate, and I like to trust people. It still hasn’t turned up.
PayPal says I’m past a cut off date for claiming my money back. They company has done the same to loads of other people, who managed to claim in time but were told the company didn’t have any money in it’s PayPal account, so they can’t do anything. If PayPal wants to be a financial company, and they offer protection, then they should offer protection.
I feel so annoyed by PayPal and the smug person I spoke to on the phone, that I am making a personal crusade out of this, to get the UK Government to investigate PayPals protection schemes.
I have created a petition for others to join to try and put pressure on PayPal. I will post again when it is up.
Avoid PayPal, and use a credit card. My credit card company (VISA) said that they will do everything they can to try and get me my money back, as I had used it to fund my PayPal account!

PIN code on iPhone

Just found a good function, or bad if you have
nosey friends. The ability to wipe all data from
your phone if the passcode is entered incorrectly
10 times.
I have tested this up to 8 attempts, and you get a warning, saying the phone has been disabled for 1 minute, then at the 9th attempt, your phone is disabled for 5 minutes, which should stop people messing about with it for a while. All the while you can make emergency calls.
I have always been wary about losing my phone and having a thief able to guess my passcode after an infinite number of attempts. Now I know my data is safe.
Now if only they had put an option to display your contact info, just in case you lose your phone. As at the minute, there is no way to find out who the phone belongs too.

Updated iPhone firmware

Updated my iPhone to version 2.1. Seems to be a bit
snappier in the menus, with more info below song
titles and podcasts.
Time will tell if it’s stable and back to the usual Apple standards.
Now where’s 10.5.5?

Apple's Announcements

New iPods. Not what I wanted to see, but I suppose
the title of the event gave the game away.
New iPhone firmware though, and rumours of another event in October (Macbook), followed by Macworld in Jan.
Fingers crossed.
