As I mentioned on the home page, I originally started
out offering HDD, DVD RW and memory upgrades to owners
of Apple's eMacs and Mac Mini's.
The eMac is still an excellent machine, more than
capable of being a small office server. My original
upgrades were based around fitting large 250 to 1TB
HDD's and replacement DVD RW drives. The DVD drives
required patchburn to make the drive useable with the
iLife apps.
The best model was the last one they made, the 1.25GHz,
as it used faster DDR memory and an energy efficient
PowerPC chip. They could be made to run virtually
silent without upsetting the cooling, had an inbuilt
monitor, and when used with an external drive system,
they were almost perfect as a SOHO server.
An eMac fitted with a 1TBGB HDD, with the cooling fan
speed reduced, fast DVD RW drive, external Firewire HDD
and 1GB of memory make the eMac an awsome machine.
I am still prepared to build a machine for you, or
upgrade your machine with a large HDD etc. Just send me
a mail using the contact form and I'll give you a
quote.
